Abstract

Vascular disorders of the spine and spinal cord are often complex problems with different clinical presentations such as sudden-onset or slowly progressive paresis and pain, mostly due to venous or arterial ischemia and/or hemorrhage. Clinical neuroradiology plays an important role in establishing a timely diagnosis and considering an efficient endovascular treatment. The differential encompasses inflammatory diseases, and radiological techniques such as MRI, CTA, and catheter angiography are useful for diagnosis and planning treatment. In this chapter, we will briefly overview common clinical presentations of patients with spinal vascular problems after reviewing the normal intrinsic and extrinsic vascularization of the spine and the spinal cord and then focus on different types of vascular disorders, their differential diagnosis, and possible endovascular treatments.
