Abstract
In this paper, we propose a new architecture for LTE (Long-Term Evolution) cellular networks with No Stack (short for “Not Only Stack”). The layer-by-layer protocol stack is pushed down in No Stack. Three key points are introduced, including the C/U/M plane’s separation, GNV (Global Network View) and GC (Global Controller). We focus on making procedures for the handover of S1 in LTE network with the No Stack architecture. We compare the handover procedure of the proposed architecture with the traditional LTE’s. The numerical evaluation results show that the proposed architecture can reduce the signaling overheads and the delay of the handover procedure. Meanwhile, this architecture can increase success ratio of the handover and optimize the usage of mobile network resources.
