Abstract
Starting from an early discussion with Alex Muller where I drew his attention to the enhancement of superconductivity seen in granular aluminum, a parallel is drawn between its unconventional transport properties and those of the cuprates. Kondo behavior of granular aluminum is underlined, pointing out to the presence of free spins and the interplay between Coulomb blockade and electron-electron interactions.
