Abstract
To address the need for high quality interactive curricula for STEM learning, Meadowlark Science and Education is creating a series of educational games, The Mice of Riddle Place®. A Design-based Research method is being used to create standards- and inquiry-based learning games for middle school classrooms. Early evaluations of “The Incident of Izzy Ramirez”, an asthma-oriented game module that uses game-based problem solving, conceptual reasoning, and goal-oriented decision making for improving STEM proficiency indicates teacher, student, and research-based alignment with design practices.
