Abstract
Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a highly aggressive tumor of plasmacytoid dendritic cells that commonly presents with involvement of the skin, bone marrow, peripheral blood, and lymph nodes. This diagnosis portends a dismal prognosis. BPDCN has previously been referred to in the literature as blastic NK lymphoma, agranular CD4+ NK-cell leukemia, blastic NK leukemia/lymphoma, and CD4+ CD56+ hematodermic neoplasm, reflecting the initial incorrect belief that the neoplastic cells are derived from NK cells [1].
