Abstract

The found-footage YouTube series Marble Hornets (2009-2014) uses two YouTube channels and a Twitter account to create a transmediated Alternate Reality Game (ARG) experience, allowing users to communicate directly with both the diegetic characters and each other. While it is not revolutionary in how it approaches the use of ARG elements in its narrative, it marks a starting point in the creation of a definitive model for this mode of storytelling.
