Abstract
Lens induced or phacogenic uveitis is an uncommon cause of intraocular inflammation. There is considerable confusion in the literature as many other terms have historically been used for this disorder including phacolytic uveitis, phacotoxic uveitis, phacoantigenic uveitis, lens particle induced uveitis, and endophthalmitis phacoanaphylactia. This disorder is viewed as localized form of autimmune disease presumably due to immune reaction against lens proteins. The treatment that is often curative is complete removal of all lens material.
