Abstract
A comparison has been made between the thermal behaviour of inorganic glasses obtained from organometallic gels and from oxides. Measurements of heat capacity and absorption of thermal energy at Tg (enthalpic relaxation) have been carried out. Although the composition of the two glasses is the same, the glass obtained by organometallic gel shows a greater change in heat capacity at Tg and a higher activation energy associated with a sharper glass-liquid transition.
