Abstract

Major depressive disorder presents a mental health disorder with high depressive mood and decreased functioning. It is often a chronic condition. The diagnostic procedure, the epidemiology, the comorbidity, the etiology, as well as the psychotherapy in the context of CBT and further developments will be presented. CBT and further developments are evidence-based treatments for this disorder. The recovery process of this disorder will be described. Clinical and research implications are discussed.
