Abstract

Orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) is the standard for care of end-stage liver disease, acute liver failure, and several selected primary hepatobiliary malignancies. OLT harbors high rates of mortality and morbidity. Herein, we reviewed the most relevant complications that might occur in the early and late postoperative settings after OLT. Thus, we went through the diagnostic features and therapeutic options of arterial, portal, and biliary complications. We also emphasized the main graft-unrelated abdominal surgical complications and their management.
