Abstract
Systems theories, which are (usually implicitly) referred to in the discourses on coaching, range from classical concepts in family therapy and other disciplines to narrative descriptions of systems and two groups of more modern systems theories: one group uses the autopoiesis concept, which is, however, interpreted very differently in biological-philosophical and sociological terms. The other group focuses on interdisciplinary systems research. This theory already had predecessors in Gestalt and field theory and sees its common point of reference in the concept of synergetics.
