Abstract
In the last 20 years, the abdominal solid organ injuries treated definitively with non-operative management has progressively increased, including those of higher grade according to the classification of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma Organ Injury Scale. This has led to a progressive reduction of what were considered definitive surgical treatments that currently are reserved for cases of complications of non-operative treatment or after damage control surgery procedures. Depending on the type of injury and the traumatized organ, alternative methods to surgery can be used for the definitive care of these injuries.
