Abstract
Morphology is usually defined as the part of geography that deals with the physical constitution of a territory or a landscape taken as a whole. The central elements of a territory’s morphology are mountains, hills, rivers, coasts, etc. The presence of these and other elements, and the positions they hold within a spatial range, constitute the real form of a territory. A morphogenetic approach to territory, or landscape, is adopted when the scientific task consists in understanding its origins and foreseeing possible evolving scenarios.
