Abstract
I summarise the argument of the book before contrasting my theory with the superficially similar ‘republican freedom’ of Philip Pettit. I end by commending my theory as a starting point for further work, pointing out some ways in which it needs to be improved and indicating some areas in which it needs to be supplemented by additional work.
