Nutrition with Movement for Better Energy and Health

Abstract

Exercise and nutrition go hand in hand in lifestyle recommendations for prevention, injury rehabilitation, symptom relief, or lifestyle support during chronic illness. Our physiology requires a constant flow of oxygen and supply of nutrients, as well as a way to dispose of or recycle waste products through the continuous interaction of movement with nutrients. Inactivity, nutritional deficiencies and imbalances, and a toxic burden from chemicals and heavy metals are risk and causative factors in chronic disease. Health counseling, which integrates personalized nutrition with specific movement and exercise training, will produce better outcomes than nutritional advice or exercise prescriptions alone. Integrated standing, movement, and exercise training (ISMET) is a vital part of a holistic and integrative lifestyle strategy to promote healthy aging and decrease the effects and progression of chronic disease.
