Abstract

Chronic duodenitis and peptic duodenitis are the most common types of inflammatory disorders present in the duodenum. Lymphocytic duodenitis is a histological diagnosis associated with a heterogeneous group of gluten-mediated and non-gluten-related diseases. Inflammatory bowel diseases, both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, eosinophilic duodenitis/enteritis, graft-versus-host disease, systemic diseases such as sarcoidosis, and immunodeficiency disorders including common variable immunodeficiency, X-linked agammaglobulinemia, and severe combined immunodeficiency can also involve duodenum and small bowel.
