Abstract
The world has witnessed several developments, innovations and advancements in all walks of life. From advancements in transport, communications, mobility, technology to advancements in the financial industry, the landscape of life has drastically changed over the past one hundred years. Islamic scholars have constantly engaged with these advances to understand them through the lens of Islamic law. Readers will find researchers and verdicts from Muslim jurists from across the world on developments in the recent past such as digital photography, air travel, paper money and limited liability companies. The financial world has witnessed a recent development which has left the world deliberating on its reality. The birth of Bitcoin has ignited research from across the world. Let alone Muslim scholars, conventional financial analysts and economists have been reflecting on the reality of this phenomenon. As a result, a number of Fatawa (verdicts) have been issued by scholars from across the world.
