Abstract

Evidence for an increased factor VII coagulant activity (VIIc) in acute myocardial infarction was first provided by Poller in 1957 (1). In this study a group of 20 patients examined within 48 hours of onset of an acute thrombotic episode (18 were cases of coronary thrombosis) had a significantly higher mean VII, than control subjects. This finding has since been confirmed by some (2, 3) but not all (4) more recent studies.
