Abstract
Asteroid 1989-FC, later named Asclepius, caused some stir when it passed Earth at 400,000 miles in March 1989. Coming from sunward, the asteroid was unseen until it had passed by [1]. In March 1990 the magazine Space-faring Gazette reported that its orbit gave recurring encounters with Earth every 13 months, and it would collide with either Earth or the Moon within 30–40 years [2].
