Spherically Symmetric Collapse in Quantum Gravity

  • Chapter
Book cover Quantum Gravity

Abstract

It is generally believed that quantum gravity will be able to cure the congenital diseases of both Quantum Field Theory and General Relativity. The diseases of General Relativity are classical singularities, while those of Quantum Field Theory are ultraviolet divergences. The proposed medicine is one and the same for both cases: higher derivatives and asymptotic freedom.1,2 In the present paper we shall show how this medicine works in the case of General Relativity.3,4
