The SAGES Manual of Quality, Outcomes and Patient Safety

Abstract

Morbidity and mortality (M&M) conferences are a vital component of the peer review process exercised by surgical services at academic and private medical centers. The backbone of the M&M conference is founded in the process in which the errors made and resultant complications during the care of patients are scrutinized and discussed by students, residents, colleagues, and mentors.
