Summary
The RewriteMap directive is greatly underused and is appropriate for many situations in which people have rule sets of dozens of RewriteRule directives. Maps may be one of five types—txt, rnd, dbm, prg, and int—and they may be used in any RewriteRule directive to assist in rewriting URLs.
