Writing of photonic devices and waveguide lasers by a diode-pumped femtosecond oscillator

Abstract

We demonstrate active waveguide writing by a compact diode-pumped cavity dumped femtosecond Yb:glass oscillator. The waveguides are perfectly mode-matched to standard single-mode telecom fibers at 1.55 µm and show internal gain and laser action.
