Synopsis of the tribe Hureae (Euphorbioideae, Euphorbiaceae)

Abstract

A synopsis of the tribe Hureae is presented with nomenclatural updates, a discussion of diagnostic features, and summaries of geographical distributions. This study is based on the analysis of approximately 300 voucher specimens, including collections and photographs of types, in addition to bibliographic documentation. Seventeen species distributed in three genera were recognized: Algernonia (11 species), Hura (2), and Ophthalmoblapton (4). All species are American with the majority distributed within the Atlantic Forest, particularly in southeastern Brazil. A key for the identification of genera and species is provided along with illustrations, information on the geographic distributions and conservation status. Lectotypification for Algernonia leandrii is proposed.

Uma sinopse da tribo Hureae é apresentada com atualização da nomenclatura, discussão de caracteres diagnósticos e distribuição geográfica. O trabalho foi embasado na análise de aproximadamente 300 exsicatas, incluindo coleções e fotografias de tipos, além de documentações bibliográficas. Dezessete espécies distribuídas em três gêneros foram reconhecidas: Algernonia (11 espécies), Hura (2), e Ophthalmoblapton (4). Todas as espécies são americanas e a maioria tem distribuição na Floresta Atlântica do sudeste do Brasil. Chave para identificação dos gêneros e das espécies, ilustrações, informações sobre a distribuição geográfica e status de conservação, são fornecidos. É proposta uma lectotipificação para Algernonia leandrii.
