In this issue you will see a new kind of paper, a commentary. The editors will select outstanding accepted papers and ask that an expert in the field write a short piece placing this article into a larger context. Too often the interrelationships between different aspects of mathematical biology are less clear, and our hope is that these commentaries will make outstanding contributions appearing in the Bulletin more accessible to a wider community of mathematical biologists. As the Bulletin continues to evolve to better serve new generations of mathematical biologists, we will include new kinds of papers. We welcome feedback from readers on ways to continue to improve the Bulletin.
