Abstract

Charge-transfer interactions in cyclophane systems are reviewed. The majority of the work covered involves intermolecular complexation, with both donor and acceptor moieties existing within the same molecule. Studies have also been performed on intermolecular complexes, mainly tetracyanoethylene:cyclophane complexes. Host-guest complexes involving charge-transfer are also discussed. Other areas covered include solvent effects, substituent effects, and theoretical calculations.
