Abstract

Heptamegacanthus niekerki n. g., n. sp. is described from the giant golden mole Chrysospalax trevelyani (Günther, 1875) from south-east Africa. It differs from other genera and species in the family mainly by its smaller size, and the number and greater size of hooks in the anterior ring. The family Oligacanthorhynchidae is briefly discussed and a host-parasite list is given for the family Chrysochloridae.
