Named in honor of William A. Bradfield, rocket engineer of Dernancourt, South Australia. Discoverer of twelve comets, Bradfield has been chiefly responsible for the greatly increased rate of discovery of bright comets from the southern hemisphere during the 1970s and 1980s. (M 11750)
