Situations and Processes of Coping

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: The Springer Series on Stress and Coping ((SSSO))

Abstract

Despite many admirable and theoretically provocative attempts to understand the role of “coping” in the stress process and a myriad of studies to understand the relationship of particular sorts of coping strategies to outcomes in the stress process, several issues about coping and the coping process remain relatively unexplored. This chapter examines several such issues. For some issues, we provide new data. For others, we provide additional ideas about how data may be gathered.
