This mapping endeavor facilitates accurate location of all the genes and/or the assignment of sequence contigs to chromosomes (complete sequence-tagged site contig maps), and is thus a helpful tool for genome sequencing projects [18,19]. Physical mapping is being carried out at Minnesota University (US) and is funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (http://alces.med.umn.edu/candida/).
