Solvent and Solute Effects on Electrokinetic Potentials at Interfaces between Air and Aqueous or Formamide Solutions of Alkali Metal Chlorides and Sodium Alkyl Sulfates

Abstract

Electrokinetic flow in a hydrophilic capillary of a model direct emulsion consisting of a polar liquid (water or formamide) containing an alkali metal chloride or sodium alkyl sulfate and air is studied. The interfacial electrokinetic potentials are determined.
