Del Greco, Joseph. New Jersey Sea Grant fishing industry study, influence of weather and sea state. Retrieved from https://doi.org/doi:10.7282/T3J67JPC
DescriptionThe rationale of this study lies in Bendix' concern with the oceans, and the industry it supports. The maritime industry and its various off-shoots fishing, dredging, etc., are of paramount importance to Bendix; we have shown this concern by offering customized, timely short and long-range advisories to shipping interests worldwide, and providing close consultation to the shoreside operator, to maximize operation efficiency.
With this study, we intend to help those concerned with a relatively small area of the North Atlantic Ocean, and whose special weather information needs and requirements have, for the most part, gone unnoticed. Our advisories have attempted to pinpoint the environmental parameters most important to the individual fisherman, enabling him to make those decisions having most impact on him.
In addition, we intended to "fine tune" the form and content of these advisories, and show the saving in fuel, reduction in weather damage, etc., gained through the prudent use of accurate, specific, timely forecasts in their area of interest.
