Mary Derbyshire and Vivienne Marsden review the drug management of Parkinson's disease in older people

Parkinson’s disease is a chronic progressive neurological condition which affects around 120,000 people in the UK according to figures from the Parkinson’s Disease Society (PDS). It was described by Dr James Parkinson in 1817 as: ‘Involuntary tremulous motion, with lessened muscular power, in parts not in action and even when supported; with a propensity to bend the trunk forward, and to pass from a walking to a running pace: the senses and intellects being uninjured’.
