Science the social is progressing, population and family structure also changed, the living standard and values of the publics also upgrade and increasing care with the living environment and quality, thus require changes of the living space. Traditional concept named as "barrier-free" has been upgraded to be "universal design" for an idea concept. In the initial stage of the design, various required from the people with diverse life-abilities have been taking into account together with the design esthetics, thus design can be value added and shift to another new level. Currently, the concept of universal design in residential space has been promoted by the authorities in order to response the contemporary tendency. The method of scenario analysis which based on the evidences and expert experience was employed to simulate the optima scenario of the living space and lead to the best criteria. Two developed cases also been interpreted in this manuscript to realize the situation of Universal design in Taiwan up to date. The advantages and defects can be evaluated and concluded to be the design check list of the universal design with rich potential. The conclusion of our study might contribute to the residential interior design based on the consideration of universal design to provide us a more healthy, safety, relieved, convenient, comfortable, affable, impartial and sustainable living environment.
