本文藉由基督宗教教堂中,所出現的各類圖像,探討排灣族timur部落,如何以自我文化脈絡,對基督宗教進行理解與詮釋。在歷史的進程中,timur部落經歷了日本政府、國民政府,以及教會,在社會文化上進行多面向的改革,使傳統信仰逐漸瓦解;取而代之的基督宗教,成為部落族人的主要信仰。因此,包括台灣基督長老教會、天主教,與基督復臨安息日會,接連在部落設立教堂。而排灣族與基督宗教間,皆存在著豐富的圖像基礎;族人便藉著許多傳統圖像,與基督宗教進行結合,展演於教堂之中。 據此現象,本文根據藝術人類學,與詮釋人類學理論,以文本(text)的概念進行分析。針對圖像本身之社會意義,以及族人對於信仰、圖像之解釋與實踐,理解排灣族文化與基督宗教的互動過程。透過對圖像的分類,洞悉文化合成、文化復振,以及全球在地化等現象。發掘族人如何透過文化因子,對基督宗教進行轉譯,並藉由圖像的建構,以及民族自覺的影響,尋回逐漸流失的傳統;最後以全球在地化的角度,解釋圖像建構的邏輯,進一步發現,基督宗教成為timur族人,重新認識傳統的方式。
The conduct of the research was based on various images that appeared in Christian churches and emphasized relations to the Timur village of Paiwan. The research focused on how the Timur village understood and explained Christianity through their own cultural context. According to Timur village history, had gone through various management styles including the Japanese government, Taiwanese government and churches, which led to multiple revolutions in the society and the culture of this village. The traditional religion gradually faded away. Christianity had taken over the original beliefs and became the major religion of choice for people of Timur village. Therefore, The Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, Catholic Churches and Seventh-day Adventist established churches in the local area. There were abundant image foundations between Paiwan and Christianity. People of Paiwan had combined their art with Christianity’s image, displaying them among churches. According to the described phenomenon, this study will, according to Art Anthropology, and the theory of Interpretation Anthropology, use the concept of “text” for analysis. The study focused on the images’ social meanings and the indigenous people’s beliefs, interpretations and utilizations of the images, understanding the cultural interaction between Paiwan and Christianity. Through categorizing images, the study investigated cultural hybridity, cultural revitalization, and glocalization phenomenon. To explore how Paiwan people translate Christianity by cultural factors. The structures of the images also influenced the self-awareness of Paiwan people and the raised awareness furthermore brought back their fading traditions. Finally, the research discussed the image structures with the concept of glocalization in order to discover the findings of how Christianity played a crucial role for the Timur village to reconnect to their traditions.
