東南亞籍母親親職壓力與其學齡前期兒童發展之探討

A Correlational Study of Parental Stress in Southeast Asia Immigrant Mothers and Development of Their Preschool-Aged Children

摘要


本研究目的在探討東南亞籍母親親職壓力與其學齡前期兒童發展之關係。本研究採用相關性研究法,採方便取樣,以設籍台中縣東南亞籍配偶之學齡前期兒童為研究對象,使用DDST II及親職壓力量表為研究工具進行資料收集,共120位兒童參與本研究。結果發現研究個案之平均年齡為3.82歲,男孩61人(50.8%),女孩59人(49.2%)。研究對象之父親平均年齡為41.55歲,以勞動性工作為主,教育程度以國中居多。研究對象之母親平均年齡為22.5歲,教育程度以國中居多,國籍以越南籍最多,其次為印尼籍。有85.8%(n=103)的兒童其DDST II結果正常,14.2%(n=17)疑似發展遲緩。外籍母親的親職壓力以「親職愁苦」分數最高(M=3.59),其次為「困難兒童」(M=3.55)。以The Mann-Whitney U test分析親職壓力與兒童發展之相關性,研究結果顯示「親職愁苦」與兒童發展具有統計上之顯著差異(Z=-2.34 p=.01)。但在父母親的年齡與教育程度與兒童發展之相關性都未達統計上意義。本研究結果發現,東南亞籍配偶之兒童有發展遲緩的問題存在,但母親並不擔憂,因此在健康照護及教育體系上都應提供合適的措施以及社會支持,以協助東南亞籍配偶勝任母職工作,並及早大規模偵測,以早期發現發展遲緩之兒童,並予以早期治療。

The purpose of the study was to explore the correlation between parental stress in immigrant mothers from southeast Asia and the development of their preschool-aged children. A cross-sectional correlational research design and convenience sampling were used. The subjects were immigrant mothers from southeast Asia and their children aged between 3-6 years old living in Taichung. Denver II Developmental Screening Test (DDST II) and Parenting Stress Index-short form were used to collect data. A sample of 61 (50.8%) boys and 59 (49.2%) girls participated in this study. The mean age of the children was 3.82 years old. The mean age of their fathers was 41.55 years old. The education level of the fathers was primarily junior high school and most of them were labor workers. The mean age of their mothers was 22.5 years old. The education level of the mothers was primarily junior high school and most of them came from Vietnam and Indonesia. The result of the DDST II revealed that 85.8% (n = 103) of the children was judged as normal and 14.2% (n = 17) was suspected with developmental delay. The parenting stress of the mothers primarily came from parenting distress (M = 3.59) and difficult child (M = 3.55). The results of the Mann-Whitney U test showed that parenting distress scores between the normal development group and the delay group was significantly different (Z = -2.34, p = .01). The age and the educational levels of the mothers and fathers were not different between the 2 groups (all p values > .05). The results of the study suggest that the developmental delay exists among the children, however, the mothers do not worry about this problem. It suggests that the health care system and education system should provide appropriate interventions and social support to immigrant women to promote their mother roles. A large-scale screen to find their children with developmental delay is needed.
