A tendency of increase in accidental injuries sustained during participation in basketball games has been observed in physical education classes and competition events. This study is to explore legal liabilities of such injuries aiming for minimizing offense through negligence in sporting games and lawsuit filing. Diverse aspects of civil liabilities, criminal liabilities, and the extent of compensation for damage are assayed by this study. Liabilities involved not only cause tortures to litigants in various aspects of mentality, physicality and property during the litigation, but perplex sports practitioners. Research methods are as follows: 1. The extent permitted/prohibited by applicable law. 2. Controversial issues of body contact in sports. 3. Compensation for damage in cases causing death of victims or infringement of the right of personal freedom such as physical health. Results found are that conflicts in basketball courts shall end together with the competition and a general agreement for sporting games shall be signed. This study suggests that competition is an inseparable part of sporting games; however, an overly competitive situation may cause sports to denature. In view of the ”protection of legal interests” as well as legal consequences of a foul play, the signing of an athlete's agreement with an aim to minimize offense through negligence in sporting games will definitely provide athletes with more protection rather than less.
