塑膠經過上百年的發展歷史,迄今日邁入產最大幅提高附加價值不斷擴大之階段。今後新合成之樹脂數目會趨減,但經由既有產品之改質,仍將使不同品級之產品迅速推陳出新,且通用塑膠與工程塑膠兩者皆然。工程塑膠將是明白的明星塑膠產品,可望取代金屬等諸多材料。在改質方面由於相容化技術之發展,已製成許多新材料,具有優秀的性能,能充分迎合終端用途之需。做成合膠、混膠,賦予機能性,以及強化加工,是塑膠產品未來發展之主要趨勢。
Over 100 years has passed since the appearance of the first plastic polymer. Today, plastics production has grown into a large capacitcy industry with high added-value. The invention of new plastic polymers tends to decrease, however, a variety of new grades derived through modification based on commodity and engineering plastics continue to emerge on the market. Engineering plastics are always referred to as the advanced materials of tomorrow. They are hopefully to replace more traditional materials including metals. Meanwhile, the development of plastic compounding technology has resulted in the production of various high performance plastic alloys, blends, and fiber-reinforced materials which meet the requirements of modem industrial applications.
