The
objective of this paper is to analyze in which ways the actions made towards
the prevention and resolution of problems caused by landmines, cluster
munitions and other explosive remnants of war are important to achieve a
sustainable development. The methodology used in this article will be the
critical-deductive approach, relying itself upon reading and analyzing
literature and international legal framework on the matter, in order to
demonstrate the crucial nature of post bellum mine action for effective
economic, social and environmental development, as well as an effective
assurance of the human rights of communities in reconstruction in an
after-conflict context.
