The Federal Constitution of 1988 establishes that Brazilian democracy is sustained through the articulation and actions of political parties. In this context , conduct studies and reflections on the process of historical development and theoretical foundations of political parties is indispensable . The Brazilian political system sustainability base lies in understanding and way of operation of political parties. This article aims to present just the thought of representative authors in this issue , in order to provide more consistent and articulate reflections on what role is still reserved for parties in the Brazilian political context.
