Regiony a regionální taxonomie: koncepty, přístupy, aplikace

Pavel Klapka

The monograph is concerned with one of the basic geographical concepts, a region, primarily from the point of view of the quantitative geography. The first part deals with the issue of the properties of regions, their typology, when the perspective of their structure is crucial to classify them into formal and functional regions. The second part presents methods of regional taxonomy, i.e. the identification and definition of formal and functional regions, and respective regional systems including the methods of their validity. The third part is an historical excursion into regionalisations of the territory of the Czech Republic with an emphasis on complex and contemporary regionalisations. The conclusion reflects on the current position of regional taxonomy within geography.
