본 연구는 홍세영 만신 주재 성주굿 중에서도 〈성주거리〉를 본격 고찰함으로써, 황해도 성주굿의 현재적 양상과 특징을 살핀 것이다. 황해도 성주굿은 기본적으로 황해도에서 월남하여 인천, 경기 지역 등에 자리를 잡고 황해도 굿의 뿌리를 이어나가고 있는 만신들의 굿이라는 점에서 세습무들이 연행하는 성주굿과는 일정한 차이를 보인다. 즉 지역적 기반이 오히려 약할 수 있는 굿의 기본적 특성에도 불구하고, 오히려 다른 지역에서는 독자적인 굿거리가 거의 연행되지 않고, 재수굿 안에서 간단히 언급되는 것과는 다르게 황해도에서는 독자적인 성주굿이 여전히 활발히 연행되고 있다는 특징이 있다. 이는 분명히 황해도 성주굿 〈성주거리〉가 가진 특징에 기인한 것이라 보고, 이에 대해 자세히 고찰하였다.
분석 결과 현재 황해도 성주굿 〈성주거리〉는 크게 세 가지 연행 단락으로 구성된 것으로 보이며, 각 연행 단락은 다음과 같은 의미를 지님을 알 수 있었다. 첫째, 도입부에서 성주신, 성주굿의 존재 의의를 확실히 확립하는 장면을 볼 수 있다. 즉 아무리 대주와 목수가 정성을 들여 집을 지었어도 성주신이 집을 매만져주어야 집에 복이 깃든다는 인식을 볼 수 있다. 둘째, 중반부에서 성주신의 역할이 하나 더 추가되어 업신의 역할을 함께 수행함을 보여주고 있다. 특히 이 부분은 무극의 형태로 연행되어 대주를 비롯한 굿판 참여자들에게 성주신의 위상을 확고히 보여주고 있어 의미 있다. 셋째, 결말부에서 이 집을 지은 목수의 노고를 위로하고 복을 기원함으로써, 집안의 평안과 복은 한 사람의 정성으로만 되는 것이 아니라는 점을 상기시킴을 볼 수 있다.
요컨대 황해도 성주굿 〈성주거리〉는 다른 지역 성주굿이 ‘성주신의 근원 혹은 (부부) 좌정담’에 초점이 맞춰져 있는 것과는 좋은 대비를 이룬다. 즉 황해도 성주굿은 ‘근본’에 치중한 다른 지역 성주굿에 비해 ‘현재성’에 좀 더 초점이 맞춰져 있음을 알 수 있으며, ‘성주, 대주, 목수’의 역할이 모두 삼위일체를 이룰 때 비로소 집안에 복이 깃든다는 인식을 확인할 수 있다.

This study examines the current aspects and characteristics of Seongju-gut, Hwanghae-do, by examining Seongju Street among Seongjugut, presided over by Hong Se-young. Seongju-gut in Hwanghae-do basically differs from Seongju-gut performed by hereditary shamans in that it is a gut of Mansindeul, which has been located in Incheon and Gyeonggi-do and continues the roots of Hwanghae-gut. In other words, despite the basic characteristics of gut, which may have a weak regional base, independent gut is rarely performed in other regions, and unlike what is briefly mentioned in the gut, independent Seongju-gut is still actively performed in Hwanghae-do. This was clearly attributed to the characteristics of Seongju-gut 〈Seongju Street〉 in Hwanghae-do, and this was considered in detail.
As a result of the analysis, it seems that the current Seongju-gut 〈Seongju Street〉 in Hwanghae-do consists of three major performance paragraphs, and it was found that each performance paragraph has the following meaning. First, in the introduction, you can see a scene that clearly establishes the significance of the existence of Seongju-god and Seongju-gut. In other words, no matter how much Daeju and carpenter built the house with great care, it can be recognized that the house will be blessed only when Seongju-god touches the house. Second, in the middle, one more role of Seongju-god was added to show that it plays the role of Eop-god together. In particular, this part is meaningful as it is performed in the form of a Shamanism play and shows the status of Seongju-god firmly to Daeju and other gut-pan participants. Third, it can be seen that, at the end, by comforting and praying for the hard work of the carpenter who built this house, it reminds us that the peace and happiness of the family does not come only from the devotion of one person.
In short, Seongju-gut 〈Seongju Street〉 in Hwanghae-do contrasts well with the focus of Seongju-gut in other regions on “the source of Seongju-god or (couple) Jwajeongdam.” In other words, it can be seen that Seongju-gut in Hwanghae-do is more focused on “presentness” than Seongju-gut in other regions that focuses on “fundamental,” and the perception that “Seongju, Daeju, and carpenter” all form a trinity can be confirmed that blessings are blessed in the family.
