Abstract: |
Birmingham Archaeology undertook an archaeological desk-based assessment in January 2008 on the line of a proposed pipeline running from Bromesberrow Heath westwards for c4 km and discharging into the River Leadon west of Greenway in Gloucestershire. The assessment has shown that the proposed route pases through a landscape with known archaeological potential, both prehistoric and Roman. The majority of the known archaeological sites within the immediate vicinity of the pipeline are however medieval and post-medieval in date, and relate chiefly to the agricultural exploitation of the landscape, and to the establishment of post-medieval manorial and private estates |
