Description

This article presents a state-of-the-knowledge survey carried out through mapping in the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) of Brazilian research that addresses issues that refer to ethnic-racial relations in the basic education curriculum. The time frame is from 2009-2019. The question to be answered with the research was: What themes have been researched on education for ethnic-racial relations in the Basic Education curriculum in studies carried out in stricto sensu graduate studies in the period 2009-2019? To locate the works, we used the descriptors ethnic-racial relations, curriculum and basic education and the Boolean AND. We found 42 works among theses and dissertations in the BDTD. From these one, 14 were selected for discussion in this article, as they specifically address issues related to the basic education curriculum and ethnic-racial relations. The discussion of the results shows that in the analyzed works there is a consensus regarding the importance of Law 10.639/2003, which amends Law 9394/1996 and advocates the mandatory inclusion of Afro-Brazilian History and Culture from elementary school to high school. The idea that the Law has not yet been implemented satisfactorily within Brazilian public schools has become hegemonized.
