The Effect of College Student’s Occupational Engagement on Happenstance Coping skill and Mediating Effects of Relatedness

Abstract

This study was conducted based on the response data of 254 four-year college students located in C province to examine the effect of college students, occupational engagement on happenstance coping skill and to verify the mediating effect of relatedness in these relationships. The results of analysis using model 4 of SPSS 25.0 and Hayes' PROCESS Macro 4.1 are as follows. First, as a result of correlation analysis between major variables, it was found that occupational engagement, Relatedness, and happenstance coping skill all had a significant positive correlation. Second, college students, occupational engagement had a significant positive effect on the happenstance coping skill. Finally, the partial mediating effect of relatedness was verified in the effect occupational engagement on happenstance coping skill. Implications were discussed based on the research results, and limitations and the necessity of follow-up studies were proposed.
