보육교사는 열악한 노동조건으로 인해 신체적, 정신적 안녕이 위협받고 있다. 하지만, 어린이 안전과 아동학대 관련 문제가 부각되면서 다른 돌봄 노동과 마찬가지로 여성노동이라는 이유로 노동과 건강 양 측면에서 연구가 활발하게 이루어지지 못한 측면이 있다. 이에 본 연구는 보육 현장에서 유래하는 교사의 건강문제 현황을 진단하고 대안을 찾는 데 목적이 있다. 연구방법으로는 2016년 1월부터 5년 동안 한국연구재단 등재지후보이상 논문과 보고서 등을 분석하고, 2010년부터 10년 동안의 근로복지공단 서울업무상질병판정위원회가 심의한 보육교사 산재판정 결과를 분석했다. 분석 결과, 학술연구에서는 주로 직무 스트레스, 대인관계 스트레스, (심리적) 소진, 감정노동 및 정신건강 문제 등이 나타났고, 산재판정에서는 정신질환 이외에도 근골격계질환이나 이비인후과 질환 등의 업무상 질병이 주요한 산재로 인정되었다. 연구와 산재 인정 현황에서 보육교사 건강 의제가 다소 다르게 나타나, 현장의 목소리와 보육환경과 건강을 연계한 보육교사 건강문제가 보다 공적 건강 의제로 부각되어야 할 필요성이 드러났다. 본 연구는 보육교사 건강증진을 위해 어린이집안전공제회와 산업재해보상보험의 이원화된 건강체계의 일원화, 지속적 모니터링을 위한 보육교사 건강 데이터 베이스 축적, 원장 책임성 강화, 교사 인력을 포함한 적정 근무환경 조성, 보육교사 건강교육과 건강연구의 활성화, 정신건강 문제 해결을 위한 적극적 조치 마련 등의 대안을 제시한다.

Although physical and mental well-being of childcare workers are threatened by poor working conditions, their health has hardly been a major academic agenda. Work of childcare workers is similar to other care work in which their work has long been gendered as women"s work in the private sector. However, as existing health research has mainly focused on male labor, sufficient knowledge to explain women"s labor experience has not been accumulated. Therefore, this study aims to investigate health problems of childcare workers and suggest alternatives to enhance their health. First, we analyze academic papers registered by the National Research Foundation of Korea for the last 5 years from January 2016, and analyze data of the Seoul Committee on Occupational Disease Judgment for 10 years from 2010. According to the research findings, there is mismatch between findings of academic research and health agenda of childcare workers in terms of recognition of occupational diseases. It suggests that the health issues of childcare workers has not been properly addressed in the current public discussion. In addition, the mental health problem of childcare workers is very serious, and various diseases, accidents, and safety issues experienced by childcare workers, including musculoskeletal disorders, need to be studied more actively in the future. Lastly, this study suggests alternative solutions as unification of the dual health system of the Daycare Center Safety Mutual Aid Association and Workers Compensation Insurance, accumulation of health database to monitor their health, strengthening the responsibility of the workplace director and health education for childcare teachers, and further investigation of health research and development of measures to deal with childcare teachers" mental health problems.
