ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a psychologically informed presentation of elementary probability, recasting probability statements in terms of frequencies, and using frequency trees to illustrate and evade such common errors as the base rate fallacy. The latter part of the chapter provides a more sophisticated treatment, covering Bayes's theorem, various statistical quantities, significance tests, and associated fallacies and their psychological roots.
