ABSTRACT
In conclusion, this chapter sums up what we can learn from 200 years of capitalism, and the more recent history of climate change, democracy, and the relationship between capitalism and governmental power. Crises trigger societal transformations. There are today many sources of crisis, but the unfolding climate crisis, slow moving but inexorable, will demand transformation in order to manage its effects. We have to hope that human collective institutions will respond.
