ABSTRACT
A more detailed discussion of elements of Fredegar Chron. III 9 as a supposed proof text of Germanic sacral kingship theory. The unconventional reading lately adduced to make this point is shown to be a misreading of the text and its formal agreement with its source-text (Hist. II 10) established.
