Abstract

This paper describes the perception about the present state of structural mechanics education and a trial to improve the motivation for learning of students learning in the civil and environmental engineering department, Kinki University. The resultant score of structural mechanics is examined with various factors such as the type of entrance examination, the percentage of attendance and the learning time, etc. Based on the information obtained by questionnaires for a job, it is found that the civil service is the most popular among every job for students learning in our department. We propose the new questionnaire survey by using the national service personnel examination for second-class civil to improve the effectiveness of the civil engineering education. It seems that this trial might be one of the useful techniques to improve the motivation for learning of students in the civil engineering.
